Edwards was a teacher and a Minister in the Church of England. His ministerial appointments were as Recotor of St Augustine's, Bulli (1923-26) and Rector of St James Church, Sydney (1956-62). He was appointed as first Headmaster of Canberra Grammar School on its opening in 1929, which position he held for 17 years.
